rome again

am sitting in k's beautiful apartment next to the colosseo, and the warm, decisive rain continues to wash these ancient walls. earlier this evening, we went to see il's commune just outside roma. what an impressive setup; for some moments one is left feeling one has returned to the early seventies, with the manifesto, the hammer and the sickle, and idealists sitting around a table. only difference being, that there was also a lot to show for the work, for the translation of those ideas into reality. a garden of vegetables and herbs, a compost toilet (that il was particularly proud of!), and a restaurant, with fresh local organic food. a delight. plus a gym, and a cinema - it lifts the spirit to see so much constructive activity going on.

this is my final night in rome this time. it's never failed to capture me, and completely own me - everytime i am here. maybe i will put up a few photos in the coming days.

i have been so irregular with the blog, and the worrying aspect is that this irregularity gets shoved under a general guilt blanket of all things that i am falling behind on. but not giving up on this just yet.
it's khansahab's 62nd birthday today. k played a song of his, quite by chance. except that, perhaps it was not by chance..
